From side hustles to the Search Academy – meet Zainab, our newest digital marketing apprentice!
We’re delighted to welcome another fresh face to the 21Digital team! Zainab has joined us as our newest Search Academy Apprentice, taking her first steps into a career in digital marketing after discovering an interest in the industry through a slightly unconventional route.
Before joining us, Zainab studied Business, Fine Art and Finance at A Level. Alongside working part-time, she also turned her creativity into a number of side hustles – from sharing and selling her own artwork and calendars to designing creative maps in Fortnite.
It was through trying to get those projects in front of the right people that Zainab first found herself dipping her toes into digital marketing. She began learning how to promote products through social media, experimenting with captions and hashtags and getting to grips with things like target audiences and online trends.
What started as a way to market her own creations soon became an interest in its own right. The more Zainab learnt about what goes into successfully promoting something online, the more she wanted to understand – eventually leading her to explore digital marketing as a potential career.
That journey has now brought her to 21Digital and our Search Academy, where she’ll be building on what she’s already learnt while developing hands-on experience across the world of search marketing.
The Search Academy is something we’re particularly proud of here at 21Digital. Designed to give the next generation of digital talent a route into the industry, the programme combines hands-on learning with real client experience across both paid and organic search. With support from our experienced team, apprentices can develop practical skills, build their knowledge and get stuck into agency life from day one.
Away from search, Zainab’s creative streak certainly hasn’t disappeared. She still loves painting, as well as going to the gym, playing on her PS5 and, by her own admission, doing far too much shopping!

We’re thrilled to have Zainab joining the team and continuing the next chapter of our Search Academy. Her combination of creativity, entrepreneurial spirit and curiosity about digital marketing makes her a brilliant fit for the programme, and we’re looking forward to seeing where she takes it.
