How social media can help your business – and it’s not what you think!

Over the last decade, social media has skyrocketed into the marketing machine we know it as today. But if you cast your mind back to when it first began, that wasn’t the point at all. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and even Twitter (or should we say X) were created to help people connect and share stories, updates, and everyday moments with each other.

At its core, social media was built around relationships – and that message still resonates today. People don’t just use social platforms to shop or be advertised to. They use them to feel connected, and that’s exactly why social media still holds so much power for businesses in 2025, even if you aren’t chasing the golden goose – which, let’s face it, many of us aren’t.

You don’t need to go viral to see results

The truth of it all is you don’t really need to go viral. You don’t need to post every day. You don’t need flashy video content, trending sounds or professionally edited reels. These things might feel small, but they create a sense of familiarity – and that builds trust, and trust is what drives buying decisions. We’ve all done it before: found a new business through search or a recommendation, then gone straight to their socials to get a feel for them. A regularly updated page, even if it’s just one or two or three posts a week, can be the difference between someone clicking away or making an enquiry.
